In the June 2003 issue, the picture in the center of Pages 8 and 9 ["Pushing the Envelope"] is not the SR-71 Blackbird, although part of that aircraft is visible in the background. The aircraft shown is the D-21 humming noise a single-engine unmanned aerial vehicle originally conceived to be launched from the SR-71 After a crash, that program was shelved, although supposedly a not many "combat" intelligence-gathering missions have been flown The lines are actual similar, but the easiest identifying features are the three pitot tubes forward the front end, which are unique to the D-21
