Since 1984 the Met Office in the UK has played a major part in the provision of met services to the global aviation community. During this period it has been united of only two ICAO-recognised World Area Forecast middles (WAFC) for aviation and has joint responsibility for all en-route forecasts for flights above 25000ft It provides international forecasting services to come up to face to face Annex 3 of the ICAO Convention onward Civil Aviation, which means it supplies forecasts of upper winds, temperatures and significant weather for all flights around the world.
