Groundstar emerg from what was known as Northeast Aviation, a handling agent formed at Newcastle UK from a nucleus of staff who had previously been with British Airways until that airline disposed of its sod handling activities. As the company expanded its UK operation, it was felt that a re-branding was necessary to cogitate its broader influence over the market and to such a degree Groundstar emerged in 1999.
